I walk down the stairs that lead to the chorus room and notice that Lizzie and Chelsey are already standing by the wall and chatting away. I drop my bag from my shoulders and it hits the floor with a loud ‘thunk’. Then I stand with Chelsey and Lizzie and chat away with them, waiting for the bell to ring, signaling that we needed to get to chorus.
“Morning,” I smile at the two as they pause in their conversation. “What are you talking about?” I wonder.
“Lizz got a pass to go down to Mr. Perrin’s office again.” Chelsey informed me.
I looked at Lizzie like this was a shock to me. Though it only half was because she had been already five times this year.
“What did you do now?” I ask her as I fold my arms over my chest.
“I don’t know! Laurie told me yesterday in geometry that I had to meet Mr. Perrin tomorrow morning at the start of block one!” Lizzie shrugged. “Will you guys walk me before the bell rings?” She asked. Though as always, Chelsey and I tell her that we would because we always do.
“But you have to tell us what happened when you get back to chorus.” I said looking at her as we look at the clock and walk back up the stairs, starting the dreaded walk to Mr. Perrin’s office.
“Do I ever not tell you?” Lizz looked at me and we all laughed. This was true; even if she couldn’t speak about it she would always tell Chelsey and me.
“Alright,” Chelsey says as we stop in the hallway by Mr. Perrin’s office. “Good luck Lizz. Talk to you later!”
We both give her a hug then start on our way back to the chorus room as we hear the long, boring tone of the warning bell.
As Chelsey and I sit down in our seats for chorus we hear the short but loud beep of the PA system coming on. We all stop warming up to look up at the small box on the ceiling.
“I….have…..to…..PEE!” Is all that comes over and then the ‘click’ that the PA system had shut off. Everyone starts cracking up. Chels and I look at each other and start laughing harder.
“Well….I guess Mr. Perrin wasn’t in his office!” Chelsey and I say to each other as we make our way out the double doors of the chorus room.
We meet up with Lizz before lunch and ask her what happened.
“I was bored!” She says to us both as she grabs her books from the locker shared by Chelsey and herself.
“I figured that much. Did you get into trouble for it?” I ask as she shuts the locker and we make our way down the crowded hallway to walk Chelsey to a class before Lizz and I headed off to our lunch period.
“Actually I didn’t. Mr. Perrin was laughing so hard when he came into his office that he forgot why I was there and said I should get to class.” She shrugged.
“So what did you do, you didn’t come back to chorus.” I wondered as we hugged Chelsey and made our way down the now clear hallways to the cafeteria.
“I wandered the halls for forty-five minutes.” She shrugged. “But I really did have to pee! Ya know that huge water bottle I have? That was half gone before I even got to school this morning!” She informed me as we sat down at the lunch table.
“Well. I can always expect you to give me a good laugh.” I said and we ate our food and had a great rest of the day.
